Aurora Soccer Club

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

President's Message

Welcome to the 2008-09 Indoor Season. This is an exciting time in the soccer year. We bid welcome to new players and parents, new coaches and new volunteers, including a new Board of Directors. We say farewell to retiring volunteers, coaches and players. To those of you who are stepping down, many thanks for your help and letting us get to know you.

The Aurora Soccer Club is the largest youth soccer club in Saskatchewan. The traditional measure of success speaks well of the club - a review of the club website shows the number of city and provincial finalists produced each year, and the depth of the success on the field as signified by the number of teams finishing in the top half of the table. What may not be so readily apparent are other signs of success. Our teams are competitive in all four divisions. Our players go on to play for other programs throughout Canada, and assume a leadership role in coaching and other aspects of the game. We have the highest player retention rate in Saskatoon.

All of this is done for the lowest registration fees in the city - done with the enthusiastic help of a group of volunteers who are second to none

As we get underway this season, I encourage everyone, players and parents, to take a minute to visit with your coaches and your managers, and the other volunteers who create this success every day of every week during the season. Let them know they are appreciated.

Most importantly, if you can spare an hour or two, or more, please help any way you can. Volunteer to help your child's team, or if you have some time, stop me or any other Board Member at the soccer centre, or email us and let us know you can lend a hand. Volunteering for the Aurora Soccer Club is a great way to meet your neighbours, get to know the other parents, have a laugh or two, and be a part of the "beautiful game".

See you at the pitch.
