Staff Background Checks (CPIC)
In accordance with CSA and SSA Rules, the Aurora Soccer Club is required to ensure that all team staff have provided the club with a current CPIC check (a check which is two years or newer is considered current). The CSA guidelines are aimed at contributing to the safety of all participants in the sport of soccer, whether coaches or players.
The Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) is a national police databank administered by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. To ensure the confidentiality of the information contained on the system, only accredited law enforcement agencies are granted access to CPIC. The Aurora Soccer Club is not permitted to request a background check directly from the police. Rather, the request must be made by the person requiring the check (the coach or manager).
The person undergoing the check may require the results to be returned directly to him or her, or may authorize immediate release to the Aurora Soccer Club.
This year, there is a new procedure for CPIC checks. You no longer need attend the police station.
First of all, DO NOT take steps to secure a CPIC check until you have been notified by an Aurora coordinator that you need one.
If you receive notification that a CPIC check is required, download the
CPIC application form
,
and complete it, including the authorization on the second page for a Vulnerable
Sector Search.
Take the completed form to the Aurora Soccer Club CPIC on the date and at the time contained in your notification. Bring 2 pieces of government issued ID, one of which must be a photo ID, with full name and date of birth (for example, Driver's Licence, Health Card, Social Insurance Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, Firearms Certificate and/or Treaty Card).
Your identification will be verified by the Aurora official in attendance, and a copy of your identification will be attached to the form you have completed. The Club will directly submit the request, along with payment, to the Saskatoon City Police.
Results may take several days and will be mailed. The Club asks that you authorize direct release to the club, to minimize follow up required by the CPIC Coordinator.
If there are any questions, feel free to contact any member of the coaching recruitment committee. Thanks for your help with this matter.
